A Happy Birthday to Tony.
It's a shame I missed Leicester and now I can't witness Steve from Shoreham passing the hat round in Twickenham !
Still, we have the gigs in the North to look forward to.

Peace and best wishes.

Hi Paul in the Dales.
I stayed home and passed the hat round anyway, managed to raise £3.99p so toddled off to the Co-op for a cheap bottle of plonk to drown my sorrows. Might do it again tonight, everyone needs a hobby !

Enjoyed the gig at The Musician last Thursday. Nice one. Come back to Leicester soon.

(Quite enjoyed the Magners too only because it was free.)

Someone can pass on this url to you guys www.alternativeartistsnetwork.com/interviews
some clips from 100 club March 07

Hi Rob, Hi All

Just have to make a comment as I've just followed the last 'posters' directions to the suggested URL re; Broughties live @ 100 Club (they can also be found on YouTube) - my opinion? = (Please insert your own expletive here), I think they are dreadful, bad sound, bad filming (mostly), and not at all representative of the gig or the sound we heard. Good Griff, the Greek gig clips are better!. Take 'em off I say. Sorry, but, well, be interesting to hear other views. Hope it's not just my opinion!? Still, it's nice someone tried.

luv n Peace

Oh Ramblin I agree. I didn't want to 'cos I enjoy finding new bits to look at and hear when the Broughtons have played gigs I couldn't get to but please, please someone get rid.

Needed to look at my DVD just to get it out of my mind.

Re the clips - It will be difficult to vet every item. Just looked at some Radio head clips - equally unrepresentative of band but if some one puts a classy clip up the balance is restored. So go to it guys. Make us look good. I won't have people making cash out of blatant copy right infringement but this is different. I am honestly not quite sure what to do with this , if any thing at all.
What do others think ?

For us from far away, ALL that we find is better than nothing, but I agree with Ramblin, its not representative reg esp the sound, but I like to keep it there until something better turns up, and yes, I am also glad I have the dvd to make things right...., but it is fun watching since I wasn't there to experience myself.
And boss, just a wish and a shot in the dark, if possible, what if you share some of your rehearsals with us on your site, that would have been GREAT :)

The clips are poor quality - I was at the gig and it was the best gig ever - and I've seen a few !
But I enjoyed watching them (I was almost in them, I could see the bloke I was standing behind !) as it brought back the memories. All those who were there maybe should post comments on YouTube saying how good the sound was on the night. The 100 Club clips are an improvement on the Athens clips, though - did you all go on stage totally pixelated that night, guys? How unprofessional !!lol !
As you say, Rob, the balance needs to be redressed and the only way to do that is to post some quality clips approved by the band.

a lot of these band clips on youtube have to be compressed to enable them to be put on , this affects the quality and sound , even if they are filmed profesionaly , what it may do how ever show lost fans, casual surfers who were looking for the band , that the band is still around and playing, any exposure has got to be a good thing
www.effigymusic.co.uk is a small film site my friend and i have set up to record music and dvds mainly for the band Man i beleive our efforts have help to keep the band profile and fan base very active even when the band has been quiet,
if Rob ever thought the time right we would love to come and film the band at rehursals ,recording studios and gigs ect
heres hoping one day!
cheers

ps Dave can you email me so i can send you photos from Herzberg and Leicester

I poodle around YouTube looking for all manner of videos and when I come across one that looks and sound bad, I assume (if I don't know the band or whatever) that it is bad, and having no way of knowing it is not a good representation, I move on and forget. And I certainly wouldn't sit through to the end, just in case it might get better. I may be wrong, but my guess is I'm not unusual in this.
In the case of a band or artist I know, I then look for anything that better represents them, and if I don't find it, I'm mucho sad.
It's a shame that the RockPalast clips got pulled, as the quality was about as good as YouTube gets, and it was also a great advert for the DVD. I think the bottom line to this is the sound. If the sound was good you could see past the bad camera work and fuzzy picture and still enjoy it.
Overdubs to all

Yes Rumblinmad, i think it boils down to sound,a lot of people who post these clips use small hand held cameras and they usually stand in front of or very near the pa resulting in distortion as the built in microphone cant take the volume , also ive noticed that a lot of folk take clips on a mobile phone and the footage and sound on these things are not to good either,
after hearing how well the new songs worked t the Leicester show im really looking forward to a new lp from the band
keep on Ramblin mr mad
cheers
