UPDATE re "The Mohamed Project".

I have decided for security reasons to remove the narrative back ground to this post. At this time it is the very small list of code names below that is "the rock" of this project. While many espouse good intentions it is usually left to the few to carry the load. No surprises there then! So, thank you to the people who have already given cash or pledged to do so. Some one has offered to provide transport. Some one has offered to accomodate M for a week. Any more for any more ? Will the following code names and any one else wanting to ASSIST please contact me by email at edgar.broughton@btinternet.com I will email you with the latest information re the situation and how to send your donation.

  1. How sad and scary that a young person should be subject to family and cultural pressure to such an extent that they fear for their safety from those that should love and protect them.
I had heard the story of Banaz on the news and it filled me with horror that, despite telling those in authority that she was in very real danger, we were not able to protect her.

Sadly statutory authorites do not have the systems, skills or, in some instances the will, to really do joined up work which could make the difference.

We must not let this young man be another statistic. Time to put my money where my mouth is.

    I really wish him well.

  2. Good on yer Harry - Big Hugs and sloppy kisses (no toungues). I'm in for 50 as a start (and what about transference?), and to quote Buddy Holly - "C'mon, Everybody!!"
Such a shame, the Romeo and Juliet story, such vicious ignorant men, may they rot alone, for a long, long time. I only wish this, because I do not think they will ever see through loving eyes, and thus, should perish in their own, tiny world.

  5. While on the subject of young peole and their rights, check out this link on YouTube. It's a 12 year old Canadian girl addressing a conference (of mainly adult men) in Brazil. She speaks for all children, and anyone who cares about the future of the world. I was stunned.

  6. Hi Rob
Disapointed to see such a poor response from your heartfelt appeal. No wonder this country is in such a mess when even the Supperists are so reluctant. Talk is cheap guys.

  7. Hi Tiger
The apparent 'lethargy' may be because peeps are on their hols. Anyway, let's hope so. Someone has alluded to this blog on the MySpace place, so maybe things will pick up. Who knows, with enough of the right help, we could provide inspiration to write a happy ending to a sad song?! (get yer pen out Rob!)

Love and all that goes with it

  9. I can assist a bit. Maybe the bar was set too high with the very generous £50 pledge. I would appeal to the supperists to chip in with whatever you can afford, there's no need to try to match that.
I was listening to 'It's Not You' earlier - it says it all - 'Pray it isn't you'
    I was allowed choices
as a teenager and I was allowed to make my own mistakes - and believe me, I did !! But that's part of life and should be part of everybody's life if they want it to be.
I only wish my bank balance was as big as my mouth !!
But at least I get to choose a clever codename !

  10. Yes, yes, perfectlyformedbutsmall.
Please all, I didn't mean to set any 'bar', and in retrospec, I should probably have kept shtum as to what I was up for. If it were 2 months ago, I would have only been able to afford a couple of quid as I was very much in the red, cash-wise.
Just got to whip in another quote from an EBB ditty, I'm spinning right now "If I came in to your City, hung up on a game, would you give me your assistance, if you didn't know my name. If you didn't know my name, and you couldn't feel my pain, would you give me your assistance, if you didn't know my name?"
    Love n' all

  11. You didn't mean to set a 'bar'I realise that. Sorry if I gave the impression that I thought that had been wrong in any way. You are very generous. My funds are creaky right now too - ironically, if this had been two months ago, as you say, I would have been able to have been far more generous as things were going nicely, financial-wise.
If anyone fancies helping me out my phone number is......only joking !
Re the song lyric - I've woken up in a few metaphorical hotel rooms myself in the past and that's why I'm keen to assist.

  12. "honour killing"
    a contradiction in terms
there is no honour in killing.
I hope the young man finds his way.
